Do I need to oil my stand?
No. The stand does not need to be oiled. Before they ship, the stands are treated with an oil with a resin that continues to harden over time to keep the wood in excellent condition for years.
Do I need to oil my Pegs?
Yes, it is a good idea. Any food grade butcher block oil (Linseed oil) works fine. This type of oil tends to dry over time and you can use it on your pegs from time to time.
Why do my pegs SCREW IN tight?
When you receive your stand there may be some residual wood oil in the threaded inserts. This dried oil will go away after a few times of screwing in the pegs.
I just received my stand, why do I see small dArK particles around the threaded holes after I unscrew a peg?
The particles are dried oil getting pulled out of the threaded inserts. After a few uses this will disappear.
What type of stains do you use?
I do not use stains. The colors you see are the natural grains, patterns and colors of the wood. To enhance the grains and colors of the wood and to protect the stand, I use a clear mixture of linseed oil and pine resin.
